The recent DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) has left a devastating impact on Valencia, with floods that have affected streets, homes, and facilities, significantly impacting both people and animals. In such moments, solidarity becomes essential, and society’s response has been remarkable, with widespread efforts to help those affected.
However, amidst the emergency, we noticed that animal shelters were receiving less support compared to other, more visible sectors. With their facilities flooded and resources stretched to the limit, these shelters were in urgent need of help to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals in their care.
Aware of this reality, our company decided to act. We contributed essential materials for cleaning, such as bleach and water-removal tools, as well as towels, blankets, and bed protectors to provide basic comfort for the animals. In total, we provided 100 towels, 50 bed protectors, 40 blankets, 150 liters of bleach, and other tools to help restore normalcy in these spaces.
Our decision to support shelters stems from a commitment to assist the most vulnerable and often overlooked areas in emergencies. We understand that shelters not only care for animals but are also a cornerstone for communities that value animal welfare. Our contribution, though modest in comparison to the vast needs, is aimed at these places that tirelessly work to give animals a second chance, even under the most challenging circumstances.
This episode reminds us of the importance of collaboration and keeping an inclusive perspective when providing support. Valencia has been an example of solidarity, with individuals, institutions, and companies coming together to tackle this crisis. Being part of this chain of aid has been an honor and a responsibility for us.
We will continue to stand by those who need us most, be it people or animals, in times as challenging as these. Our commitment to animal welfare and solidarity motivates us to keep moving forward and contribute wherever we can to improve the situation of affected communities.
